Overview
The problem with most budgeting apps is that they require too much ongoing effort to maintain. You either give up control by connecting your bank directly, or you spend an hour each month importing and categorizing CSV exports. Housemunny tries to find the middle ground.
It connects to bank accounts via GoCardless, automatically categorizes transactions, and generates clean monthly reports. The focus is simplicity: one dashboard, no financial advice, just a clear picture of where your money goes.
The most technically interesting part was building a reliable categorization engine that works consistently across different bank formats and transaction description styles. Subscriptions are handled through Stripe.
